My Talented KinderGirl

Shelby's kindergarten teacher corralled me after school the other day and demanded my cel phone number. "I want to send you something and I want to see your reaction! It made my day and I sent it to a friend who works in the corporate world and hates her job. She'll just want to quit knowing I get to do this every day!" So, with obvious anxiety, I awaited the arrival of her forward to my cel phone as we stood on the playground after school. What I received was the following video of my daughter at recess. The kindergarten teacher had attached the message she sent to her corporate friend, "I love my job! Here is to loving life." And as I watched with love and pride, I could hear Shelby's voice in my head telling me how she was the only one who couldn't do the monkey bars at school. Coordination doesn't seem to be her problem:)

Made Ya Look!

For the past three nights, John and I have snuggled into bed and pulled up a new TV network online. I know what you're thinking, this story could probably go anywhere right now. Pull your heads out of the gutters, people. Truth be told, we have methodically "tried" a different station each night. (Okay, okay, it sounds kinky but it's not!). First we tried abc.com and watched "Samantha Who?" Got some fashion inspiration but not much else out of the show. Then we watched "My Name Is Earl" and had a few laughs but were ultimately unimpressed. Last night we ventured to cbs.com and watched "The Ex-List". Pretty hilarious. Even though the main character looks like Skeletor with shoulder pads, on the whole the cast is pretty solid. So we anxiously put the kids to bed tonight and returned to cbs.com for the next episode of "Ex-List" only to find that there's just a pilot and no season! Ugh!!! I'm taking suggestions for other onl

The Princess Extravaganza

I have hated the color pink my entire life. I didn't even fully embrace it when my first daughter was born. But something snapped when John and I found out we were having another girl. It was like I could only see through rose colored, make that blinding hot pink colored glasses . I pulled out all the stops: pink walls, pink cabinets, pink sheets, even their toothbrushes had to be pink. You get the picture? I have done nothing short of create two tiny (albeit pink) monster daughters. And the next part of this story just goes to show that I've brought this all upon myself... Shelby turned four this week. She proclaimed that her party would be all things princess. And no boys were allowed. Not even her favorite boys (I named them multiple times to be sure she would not be disappointed when they did not arrive at her party dressed in drag). She answered with militant confidence.
